So light you'll forget you're wearing them until the compliments start to roll in. It's hard to believe these delicate airy earrings are made from repurposed single-use plastics. The artist who makes them melts down discarded plastic junk and paints it into fabulous and fun jewellery.

S.U.M. earrings are made by Jess in the Macedon Ranges, Victoria. She melts down milk cartons, straws, plastic lids, shampoo bottles, formula lids, dish-washing liquid containers, meat trays and uses the repurposed plastic like paint. As she says, there is a multiverse of useful, beautiful things that these throw-away plastics can become.
