Brolga Dance jigsaw by Lionel Phillips

Challenge yourself with an Australian-made jigsaw. These are rare in the puzzle world. This one is based on a painting by Aboriginal Elder, Lionel Phillips. Brolga Dance depicts the spirited bird dancing in the middle of the day. The brolga does his dance and looks up at Yunghi (sun, sun spirit) and asks her to make it rain by changing the weather cycle. In the painting, Yunghi sits above the desert landscape and the dancing brolga is shown with its beak raised to the sun.

Our jigsaw testers took a while to do this one, but were very happy when they'd finished.

Our jigsaw supplier strongly believes in local manufacture and local talent. Artists and photographers earn commission on sales based on a non-exclusive licensing arrangement. Components used to manufacture the jigsaws – puzzle-board, paper, ink, and glue – are selected for their environmental protection credentials.

Traditionally, jigsaws are supplied in a bulky cardboard box that takes up a lot of space but ours are housed in linen bags that we sew ourselves. These storage bags are made from surplus fabric from other projects. This reduces waste, makes storage easy, and keeps the jigsaw pieces secure. The pieces are sealed in a cellophane bag at the workshop to ensure all pieces are intact when you receive your new jigsaw puzzle.
