Baby Wombat garden ornament in weathering steel

You're unlikely to encounter a real wombat while sipping coffee on the balcony, but you can have this one as a reminder of our wonderful wildlife. Add a little mystery to your garden with our native Australian creatures such as this wombat garden ornament. 

Each of these wombats is made by hand in Tasmanian, making good use of offcuts and small pieces of steel. 

And while wombats often live alone in the bush, these ones are cute in pairs. They are small enough to enliven your potplants without crowding the space.

Our little wombat ornaments are made from weathering steel and they sit on a stand so can be placed anywhere in your garden or on a shelf. Exposure to the elements enhances this type of metal. More rust will develop over time and exposure to water and wind will help.

The designer, Nina Koops, produces metallic garden art in the beautiful Huon Valley  of southern Tasmania.

Weathering steel resists the corrosive effects of weather conditions by forming a coating of dark brown oxidation over the metal, and this inhibits deeper rust penetration.
