The Sulphur-crested Cockatoo is common on the east coast of Australia, often seen in flocks in the bush and suburban parks. In her original linocut print, the artist has captured this raucous bird on a branch of wattle, another Australian icon. Here's hoping it has a happy and long life there.

The Artist, Nicole Spillane, is inspired by Australia's unique birds, animals, and plant life, especially those that share her inner-city environment. She appreciates the imperfections that come with the manual aspect of printmaking, and believes they add character to the piece.

This print is a linocut which is a type relief printing where an image is carved in reverse on a block of lino which is then inked with a roller. An impression is taken by applying pressure to transfer the ink to paper. Several blocks may be used for coloured prints.
