There are many types of wren in southern Australia, and while most females and young birds are predominantly brown, the majority of the males of mating age look like glorious little blue jewels. These tiny birds can often be seen darting around, feeding on insects on the ground. Like many modern families, the young are cared for by the family group.

In this piece, Carlie Edwards has drawn a Blue Wren with the gorgeous Geraldton Wax which is native to Western Australia and now grown in gardens throughout Australia.

The Artist, Carlie Edwards, grew up in Byron Bay and the surrounding bush and beach from this region are often the inspiration behind her work. She has a love of Australian wildlife which is featured in her work. Each original drawing is crafted with hundreds of coloured pencils and an enormous amount of love.
