A recurring theme in Delvene Cockatoo-Collins' work is her matriarchal line, the six generations between her and her grandmothers’ great-grandmother. This small poster, Woven to Our Ancestors, depicts family relationships and enduring connections, with the lines being individual people while the loop pattern shows the connections between each generation.
The Artist, Delvene Cockatoo-Collins is a First Nations artist and designer who lives and works on Quandamooka country. In her work, she shares the stories, culture, heritage, and techniques of thousands of years, passed down by her mother, grandmother, and their ancestors.
The Quandamooka people are the Traditional Owners of Minjerribah, also known as North Stradbroke Island.
